M21 Loft Rebecca

Located in the old ‘Fiera’ area (Gerusalemme Metro station MM5), the loft is a reconstruction of an old music cassette factory of the early twentieth century. The space is characterized by the recovery of what existed, combined with the re-design of the interiors in order to adapt them to a new idea of living and working.

The house is arranged on three levels: the Ground Floor, originally dedicated to the working area and production line of the factory, was transformed into the living area, where the antique cast-iron columns, the radiators Liberty-styled, as well as the large windows have been restored, and today they are still identifying elements of the house. The cuisine was wisely designed as a glass box to let the living, relax and conversation areas remain all connected as a whole space; in the living-room there is a large wall screen as a backdrop for the projection of images of the highly technological video-hifi system, and a sound diffuser in all rooms.

In the Mezzanine Floor we can find the sleeping area with very bright rooms, high gable ceilings that look out on the green internal planted garden. The plastic and sinuous staircase that gives access to the upper floor is highlighted by a resin coating goose beak colored. The Lower level, that used to be the recording room, has been transformed into a playroom for children, wine cellar and hydromassage room. These areas intersect internally through the double height volumes. The used materials and colors are essential: ice white for walls, floors in dark wood slats, and iron and cast iron for elements of support as well as for doors and windows.
The studio apartment just at the opposite entrance of the Loft presents a ground floor as the working area/meeting room/archive; and the mezzanine floor as the relax/lunch area. The studio is characterized by the same large windows and doors of the original period, restored Art Nouveau radiators, and recovered resin floors.
